Adelaide’s newest vegan cafe Bite ADL has opened

Opening last week, the Ascot Park café is the latest place to visit in Adelaide’s vibrant foodie scene, featuring a menu of mouth-watering vegan dishes.

While Adelaidians aren’t hard-pressed to find a breakfast spot that champions a few vegan dishes, stumbling upon a dedicated vegan café is sometimes a rarity. Luckily for SA vegans and foodies alike, this new spot is the answer to all our breakfast, brunch and lunch desires.

Meet Bite ADL: The brainchild of the duo behind popular vegan catering company Bits N Bites Adelaide.

Opening last week, the Ascot Park café is the latest place to visit in Adelaide’s vibrant foodie scene. Currently, Bite ADL is operating off a smaller menu, with plans to launch a full mouth-watering vegan menu soon.

If the limited list is anything to go by – South Australia is about to be in for a real treat.

Fan-favourite menu items so far include the mushroom, dill and red onion arancini and the ‘hashie cup’ platter: a trio of dips and delectable hashbrowns cups. For South Australian coeliacs, at least half of the Bite menu is gluten-free, with a separate fryer for all those fried vegan goodies.

Currently, the café is serving up steaming cups of coffee and pots of herbal tea, but just like its food menu – the team at Bite plan on expanding the drinks list soon.

Like all breakfast and brunch regulars, they understand that sometimes you need a chilled refreshment with your meal.

“We are getting a juicer soon because I love fresh juice. Whenever I go out for breakfast, I always have to get fresh juice with my coffee,” says co-owner Phoebe.

After five years at the helm of her catering company, owning a café space is Phoebe’s dream come true, fulfilling a long-lasting childhood wish.

“The opportunity arose; it was just meant to be. A café I had loved visiting advertised that they were selling their space and equipment, and it just seemed like the perfect time and not an opportunity to miss,” says Phoebe.

“I just really love being the host, and I love having people over and entertaining them.”

“I’ve been wanting to open a café since I was a kid, so it’s very exciting.”

Visit Bite ADL at 647 Marion Road, Ascot Park Wednesday to Sunday between 10 am and 2 pm.
