Adelaide’s own Olympians gear up for thrilling beach volleyball world championship matches tonight

Local Olympians Nicolaidis and Carracher are set to face a decisive match against Germany at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide tonight.

Adelaide is set to cheer on its own, as local Olympians Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher step onto the sands for tonight’s critical match at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. At 8pm, the duo will face Germany in a must-win game on the centre court at The Drive.

Another Australian pair will take the stage just before at 7pm, as Stefie Fejes and Jasmine Fleming challenge Brazil in what is sure to be an enthralling encounter as part of the Aussie double header. If you’re keen to head down and show your support, there’s a special promotion encouraging fans to come out in strong support. A 2-for-1 ticket offer is available, ensuring the stands are packed with green and gold.

Nicolaidis and Carracher, who relocated to Adelaide to join the Australian Beach Volleyroos squad, have made the city their home. With two victories already under their belt, the pair is focused on extending their run in the competition. Their recent setback against Chile has only sharpened their resolve, with Nicolaidis reflecting on the guidance from a former coach, emphasising the importance of treating every game with utmost seriousness.

“He used to tell us ‘you never know which game is going to be your most important until you’re out of the tournament’, so you have to take it one game at a time and approach the one that is in front of you,” Nicolaidis commented.

Carracher added, “It’s a long tournament… so we just have to trust our process and put ourselves into winning opportunities every single time we step onto the court.”

On the women’s side, Fejes and Fleming are looking to capitalise on their recent form, including a career-best bronze medal at the Beach Pro Tour Challenge event in the Philippines. Making their debut at the World Championships in Adelaide, the pair is excited about competing before a home crowd.

“We’re super excited, we love playing here, we love playing at this stadium and we love playing against some of the best teams in the world,” Fleming said.

“It’s so special, normally I look out to the camera and go ‘I love you guys, miss you’, and my friends and family know that I’m talking to them, but actually having them out there in the crowd is so special, I love it,” Fejes added.

The action doesn’t stop with the Aussie matches, as the championships continue throughout the day, with several other international clashes scheduled. From 1:30pm onwards, teams from around the globe will battle it out, leading up to the evening’s showcase featuring the Australian teams.

Locals are encouraged to take advantage of the ticket offer, support their teams and enjoy world-class beach volleyball right in the heart of Adelaide.
