Adelaide’s Pinkish Blu release new single under Sony Music

The Adelaide band, which is signed with Sony Music, has released new track “Old Blue” ahead of their alt-pop sophomore EP.

Adelaide indie-pop four-piece Pinkish Blu have released their new single “Old Blue” this week ahead of their forthcoming sophomore EP, which is coming out on July 30.

With singles “Backward,” “Start a Band,” and “Old Blue” on Triple j, Home & Hosed play, and Unearthed play respectively, the group has already begun their music domination, and their new single and upcoming EP hope to continue that.

The Adelaide band, which is signed with Sony Music, think that new track “Old Blue” is a step in a new direction, but that it still features their trademark alt-pop sound.

“Sonically, we’ve tried to combine two contrasting sections to create an interesting switch up of sorts but all the while trying to not throw the listener out of the song completely,” they say.

“Lyrically, it has to be our most self-critical and honest work to date, looking at the internal disdain for oneself and discussing the impact that has on those around us.”

Pinkish Blu have come a long way since winning Triple j Unearthed in 2019 to becoming one of Australia’s most promising indie pop bands. The band, managed by Los Angeles-based management team ‘Lost Boy’, which also manages Cxloe and Carla Wehbe, have shared the stage with Thelma Plum and Hilltop Hoods at Groovin The Moo, and supported the likes of G Flip, The Rubens, Trophy Eyes and most recently with Odette in May. The band will be playing a few shows in support of their EP throughout July.

Named Triple j Unearthed winners in 2019, they also toured with Australian singer Odette in May.

They’re continuing to tour in July, including tomorrow night, Saturday, July 17, at The Lab, which is part of the Light Cultural Foundation, on Light Square.
