Lettuce talk about this year’s Best Burger poll… In the past two years, the popular poll in the Adelaide Burger Lovers Facebook group had the community on board, suggesting burger joints, voting, and basically giving shout outs to their favourite places across SA. This year, there was beef.
We were on a burger rollercoaster for 4 days, as three much-loved venues battled it out for first, as their fans tried to help them “ketchup” with the competition! In total, 58 venues were nominated, showcasing a broad range of fantastic burger joints across the state.
Straight off the bat, last year’s winners, Stax, took the lead, only to be relegated to second place by the Diamond Burger community in the first ten minutes. Then tragedy struck with a technical glitch, which saw Diamond disappearing from the poll! 20 minutes after the competition had been launched, they were back, and then the real battle begun.
Stax and Diamond battled it out for first, before newcomer to the scene, Grandalfs Burgers & Tacos, appeared as a strong contender. Their burger loving community came in fierce, taking Grandalf’s into the lead where they comfortably sat for a decent amount of time.
Then more scandal! A second Grandalfs poll option appeared, allowing their fans to effectively vote twice. There were calls for the two Grandalf tallies to be added together, but it wasn’t as simple as that. To keep the competition fair, Chat GPT then got involved, sorting through the votes, removing duplicate names, and recounting the votes.
With a total of 2497 votes when the poll was tallied at 9:30am on Saturday morning, the results were clear.
Even though Diamond Burger and Grandalfs both positioned first during the polling period, Stax ended up with 19% of the vote, and 623 votes – which ranked them first, for the third year in a row.
Grandalfs Burgers & Tacos, despite only opening in late 2023, smashed it out of the park, with second place.
Diamond Burger, another relative newcomer landed in third place with 12%, and 370 votes. They were second last year – so it looks like they’re still delivering quality burgers, and keeping their fans happy!
It seems, no matter who you voted for, we have some pretty amazing burger places to eat at here in SA, and we’re spoilt for choice!

This time last year, Chef Luke Brabin from The Griffins Hotel also emerged victorious, claiming the title of SA’s Best Pub Burger 2023. This highly anticipated competition brought together twelve top-notch hotel finalists who went head-to-head to earn the coveted title.
delicious. also released their 100 list, naming SA’s best burgers in late 2023, with Bread & Bone taking out the top spot.
