Adelaide’s weather for Tuesday January 7th and the week ahead

Expect fresh and gusty winds about the foothills and southern suburbs this morning, heading southeasterly 25 to 40 km/h, decreasing to 15 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day, tending southerly along the coast in the afternoon, then becoming light in the evening.

As for the fire danger rating, it is high in the Mount Lofty Rangers, but there is no rating in the Adelaide Metropolitan area.

Looking ahead to Wednesday we’ll see mostly sunny skies with a maximum of 32 degrees and a minimum of 15. There will be zero chance of rain, but light winds will become south to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon then light in the late evening.

Thursday will once again be mostly sunny with a high of 33 degrees and a low of 20 degrees, with 20% chance of rain and slight showers in the morning. Not to worry, the sun will be back out on Friday with a warm 33 degrees and sunny.

Over the next week, the UV is set to reach extreme levels 12 and 13. With these high numbers, it is recommended to wear sun protection from 9:00am to 5:40pm daily.

Until January 7th at midnight, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued strong marine wind warnings for the Upper South East Coast and Lower South East Coast
