Adelaide’s weather forecast for Friday November 8th and the weekend

Adelaide faces a dynamic weather outlook with a transition from morning showers to a sunny weekend, amidst strong wind warnings and sheep grazier alerts.

Adelaide residents can anticipate a mix of weather conditions over the coming days, with showers predicted for today and a clearer outlook for the weekend, according to the latest forecast.

For the remainder of Friday, the Adelaide region will experience scattered showers predominantly in the morning, proceeding to a mostly sunny afternoon. West to southwesterly winds ranging from 25 to 35 km/h are expected to swing south to southwesterly at 15 to 20 km/h by the evening before settling later on. The maximum temperature is likely to reach 21 degrees.

Turning to the weekend, Saturday will see a rise in temperatures with a maximum of 23 degrees, though the skies will remain cloudy throughout the day. There is a slight chance of a shower, although precipitation is unlikely with just a 20% chance of rain. Light winds early in the day will shift from the northwest to the southwesterly midday, easing again by the evening.

Sunday promises warmer conditions with a maximum of 26 degrees and mostly sunny skies. Like Saturday, there is a minor possibility of showers with again, a 20% chance of rain. Winds will begin east to southeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h, shifting southeast to southwesterly in the afternoon, then returning to southeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h by the evening.

In the Lower South East forecast district, sheep graziers are advised to take precautions as cold temperatures, showers, and westerly winds throughout Friday morning pose a risk to livestock, especially lambs and sheep.

Strong wind warnings have also been issued for Friday across multiple coastal areas including the Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Investigator Strait, Upper South East Coast, and Lower South East Coast.

In a detailed look at the broader South Australia weather pattern, a ridge from the west is advancing over the state. A cold front will move across the southeast this morning, bringing a burst of southwesterly winds. This weekend, a trough of low pressure will traverse the west. Friday will see isolated showers mainly around the southern coasts and ranges during the morning, with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms developing in the far northwest later in the day. Temperatures will be below average across most regions, with fresh southwesterly to southerly winds prevailing, shifting south to southeasterly in northern and western districts as the day progresses.

On Saturday, temperatures will remain well below average except in the far northeast where they could climb slightly above normal. The region might see showers and thunderstorms extending to the north, potentially impacting northern agricultural areas. Winds will be light and primarily from the northeast to southeasterly across the far west.

The weather on Sunday sees continued showers and thunderstorms in the northwest, with isolated showers stretching over the pastoral and northern agricultural regions. The south is expected to stay mostly dry with temperatures remaining below average. Fresh northeasterly to southeasterly winds will affect coastal areas.
