Adelaide’s weather forecast for Monday December 2nd and the week ahead

Adelaide’s weather forecast predicts a dynamic shift from potential severe thunderstorms and showers today to clear, sunny conditions by Wednesday.

Adelaide, along with broader South Australia, is set to experience varied weather conditions in the coming days according to the latest update from the Bureau of Meteorology. Residents can anticipate a mixed bag of weather ranging from showers to sunny skies as the week unfolds.

Today, Adelaide area residents should prepare for a partly cloudy day with a medium chance of showers, primarily expected during the afternoon and evening. There is also a chance of a thunderstorm from late this morning, which could potentially be severe. Winds will initially blow from the northeast at 15 to 25 km/h before shifting to northwest to northeasterly at 25 to 35 km/h in the morning, then easing off by the evening.

In terms of temperature, today’s maximum is forecasted to hit 33 degrees amidst possible rainfall ranging from 0 to 5 mm. The probability of rain stands at 70%.

Turning to tomorrow, Tuesday, December 3rd, the weather is predicted to improve slightly. After some morning showers, which have a low chance of occurring, the skies are expected to clear leading to a sunny afternoon. Morning winds will be northwesterly at 15 to 20 km/h, swinging west to southwesterly at 20 to 30 km/h before dawn. These winds will then shift southeast to southwesterly late in the afternoon. The temperature will vary from a minimum of 17 to a maximum of 25 degrees with a minor chance of rainfall, estimated between 0 to 1 mm.

Wednesday, December 4th will usher in clear sunny conditions throughout the day, with maximum temperatures expected to reach up to 30 degrees after a cool start of 12 degrees in the morning. The chance of any rain is zero percent, allowing for uninterrupted outdoor activities. Winds will be moderate, starting from the southeast at 15 to 20 km/h, turning light during the morning, and ending as east to southeasterly winds during the evening at similar speeds.

A wind warning is in effect for today for Spencer Gulf, due to strong northeasterly to northwesterly winds. Mariners and coastal visitors should exercise caution.

The broader weather scenario across South Australia involves a moving trough affecting western and central regions today, proceeding over to eastern districts by tonight. Following the trough’s passage, a high pressure system is expected to establish over southern waters by Tuesday. This system will prompt the trough to remain over the far northeast of the state. By mid-week, the high is set to shift further east, moderating weather conditions across the region.
