Adelaide is set for a big weather change over the next few days, with sunny conditions turning to thunderstorms and a severe heatwave affecting various areas.
On Saturday, the weather will be partly cloudy, with a high of 31 degrees. There’s only a 5% chance of rain. Winds will start light in the morning, picking up to 15-25 km/h from the west to southwest by midday, before calming down in the evening.
Then temperatures will rise sharply on Sunday to 40 degrees, with a low of 20 degrees overnight. The day will be mostly sunny, with a 10% chance of rain. Winds will shift from the east to the north-northwest during the day, and ease off in the evening.
On Monday, the temperature will range from 27 degrees to 37 degrees. There’s a 50% chance of rain, with possible showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Winds will start from the north-northeast at 15-25 km/h, then change to stronger southwesterlies (20-30 km/h) later in the day.
A severe heatwave warning has been issued for several regions from Friday December 13th to Monday, December 16th. The heat will be intense, with scattered showers and the possibility of severe thunderstorms, especially in the far northwest.
This weather change is due to a high-pressure system moving southeast, causing hot winds to sweep across the state. Residents should prepare for these extreme conditions, as temperatures rise and storms develop over the weekend and into the new week.
