Adelaide residents can expect a slight chance of showers later tonight as predominantly sunny conditions persist for the rest of Saturday, with temperatures peaking at 35 degrees. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, there is a 10% chance of rainfall today, mainly in the southern suburbs of Adelaide.
Over the weekend, weather patterns will shift slightly. On Sunday, the forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with a low of 15 and a high of 23 degrees. Early morning might see a slight chance of showers, but conditions are expected to clear up to a mostly sunny afternoon. Winds are anticipated to blow from the west to southwesterly at 20 to 25 km/h, changing to south to southwesterly during the day.
Moving into Monday, the weather is set to improve with cloud clearing and a slight chance of showers only in the northern suburbs. Overall, Adelaide will enjoy partly cloudy skies with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 23 degrees. Light winds will become south to southwesterly during the afternoon before easing later in the evening.
Mariners should take caution as strong wind warnings have been issued for several coastal areas including the Far West Coast, Upper West Coast, and the Lower South East Coast for Saturday. These warnings extend to the South Central and Lower South East Coasts for Sunday.
The Country Fire Service (CFS) has issued an extreme fire danger warning for today for regions including the West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, and the Lower Eyre Peninsula amongst others. The combination of hot and dry conditions with fresh to strong northwesterly winds is creating critical fire weather conditions. Residents in these areas are urged to action their Bushfire Survival Plans immediately and stay informed through local radio and official websites.
The current weather conditions, characterized by a high-pressure system over the southeastern waters moving towards the Tasman Sea, are causing northerly winds to freshen. A cold front from Western Australia is expected to bring a southwesterly change starting this afternoon.
For Sunday, this change will extend across central and eastern parts during the morning with isolated showers likely over the agricultural area. Temperatures across the eastern and northern parts of the state will be above average before the change, subsequently dropping below average.
On Monday, isolated showers and potential thunderstorms are forecasted for the northern parts of Adelaide. Coastal areas might experience below-average temperatures, while regions further north and west could see above-average conditions.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the weather and fire conditions as they develop over the weekend and into next week.
