Adelaide’s weather forecast for Saturday September 7th

It’s a cloudy and foggy start for this weekend in Adelaide. Be careful on the roads this morning as patchy fogs will hang low, mainly about the northern and central suburbs, according to the latest updates from the Bureau of Meteorology. Expect showers – with a 40% chance of rain – and northwesterly 15 to 25 km/h winds in the morning turning westerly 20 to 30 km/h in the late morning. The evening will see the rain clear and the wind decreasing to 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon.

The road conditions have prompted a road weather alert for Adelaide. Due to reduced visibility, fog will make road conditions dangerous during Saturday morning in the Adelaide Area, mainly about the northern and central suburbs. The SA Police advises that people should slow down and take extra care, maintain a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front and turn on your headlights.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the 8th of September, the rain will intensify with a 90% predicition of 6mm to fall across the state amidst partly cloudy skies. With a crisp 18 degrees and a high chance of showers, winds will whip around the west to northwesterly at 25 to 35 km/h.

A slow moving inland trough about the far northeast will exit the State early today. South Australia overall is expecting a ridge of high pressure over the west which will extend eastwards across SA during the weekend and persist into early next week, maintaining a westerly flow over the south. A couple of troughs embedded within the westerly flow will move across the south over the weekend. A low pressure system could develop in the west during the middle of next week.

Across different parts of South Australia, weather for Saturday includes possible morning fog patches about the northern agricultural area and parts of the southeast. Showers about parts of the Flinders and pastoral districts, tending to patchy light rain in the north and contracting northeastwards. Isolated showers developing in the southern agricultural area, mostly about coastal parts. Maximum temperatures generally below average, though above average in the far northeast corner. South to southeasterly winds in the north and west, will move west to northwesterly in the south.

Marine conditions have also prompted specific alerts, with strong wind alerts continuing for the South Central Coast and Lower South East Coast.
