Adelaide’s weather forecast for Sunday 4th August

Adelaide faces a frosty Sunday morning with temperatures plunging to -1°C in some parts and showers developing across the metro.

Adelaide and its surrounding regions are bracing for a chilly start, with frost warnings in effect and a rainy outlook as multiple weather systems influence the area. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a frost warning effective for Sunday morning, reaching temperatures as low as -1 degrees in parts of the Murraylands, Upper South East, and Lower South East.

For Adelaide metro, today’s weather will see temperatures hovering around 15 degrees with a high chance of showers developing from late this morning. Similar conditions are expected across various locations including Elizabeth, Glenelg, and Noarlunga with showers likely to increase, particularly in Elizabeth.

The Mount Lofty Ranges will not be spared, with all major locations like Nuriootpa, Victor Harbor, Mount Barker, Parawa, Stirling, and Strathalbyn expecting showers and maximum temperatures ranging from 11 to 15 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead to Monday, Adelaide will see slightly better conditions, although still partly cloudy with a marginal chance of early morning showers. The temperature will peak at 15 degrees following a minimum of 8 degrees overnight. Winds will shift from light to westerly at 10 to 15 km/h in the afternoon before easing later in the day.

The wider South Australian weather situation details a ridge of high pressure positioned across the southern part of the state. This will be challenged by a mid-level trough and associated cloud band moving from west to east. The trough is expected to clear by Monday as the high-pressure ridge edges eastwards, with a cold front anticipated to follow by Thursday.

Today’s forecast for the rest of South Australia includes patchy morning fog in the southern regions and early frost patches in the east. Rain will affect the north and west, particularly around the North West Pastoral and West Coast districts, with isolated showers predicted for central and eastern parts of the agricultural area. Maximum temperatures will remain below the seasonal average, accompanied by southeast to northeasterly winds.

By Monday, the state can expect patchy morning fog in the far west and areas of rain in the northeast. Isolated showers about the agricultural area will push eastwards and are predicted to clear throughout the day. Again, temperatures will stay below average.
