It’s officially the spooky season! We are set for skies with a bit of excitement today as we welcome in October with some scattered clouds and a slight chance of a morning shower. While you might encounter a few light sprinkles, with only about 0 to 1mm expected, the chances of rain are hovering around 40%. Most likely, we’ll see those light showers pop up late this morning.
Temperatures will reach a cozy maximum of 20°C, and we can expect light winds shifting to a gentle west to southwesterly breeze at 15 to 20 km/h in the morning, calming down as we slide into the afternoon.
Don’t forget your sunscreen as the UV index is set to reach a high of 6, so sun protection is recommended between 9am and 3pm.
The southern agricultural areas will see isolated showers, along with early morning fog and some frost patches. Maximum temperatures will sit below average, particularly dipping well below average in the northwest. Winds will be from the southeast to northeast in the north and west, shifting to southwesterly in the south later on.
As for local areas, Elizabeth is set for a delightful 21°C under partly cloudy skies, while Glenelg and Noarlunga will enjoy a pleasant 19°C, perfect for a stroll by the beach. Mount Barker might see a chance of a shower but will also reach a comfortable 19°C.
Get excited for sunny skies on Wednesday, with lovely maximum temperature of 24°C. Light easterly winds will keep things pleasant, with only a 5% chance of any rain, it’s the perfect day to enjoy the outdoors.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, showers and potential thunderstorms are likely to develop in the far west during the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures will range from near average to below average in the north, while the south and western coasts will experience above-average temperatures. Winds will start from the southeast to northeast and will shift to fresh and gusty northerlies in the west.
Across the week, a high-pressure system near Ceduna will gradually moving east and will be centred east of Tasmania by Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, a cold front is expected to sweep across the western part of the state on Thursday, reaching the eastern regions by Friday.
