Adelaide residents can expect a predominantly sunny day with mild conditions today, before slightly warmer temperatures arrive on Wednesday, according to the latest forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology.
Today, Adelaideans will experience a cold start with morning frost across the city. There’s also a frost warning in place for Mount Lofty Ranges, Mid North, Riverland and Murraylands forecast districts.
As the day progresses, the city will see mostly sunny weather. West to northwesterly winds will pick up midday, ranging from 15 to 20 km/h, before slowing in the late afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is expected to be 19 degrees, with only a 5% chance of rain, ensuring a mostly dry day for the region.
Looking forward to Wednesday 18 September, temperatures are set to rise with an anticipated maximum of 22 degrees. It will be a sunny day overall, with northerly winds in the morning shifting to westerly later in the day, increasing to between 25 and 40 km/h. The chance of rain will slightly increase to 10%.
In addition to the general forecast, a strong wind warning has been issued for marine areas. Today, a strong wind warning is in place for the Lower South East Coast. This warning will extend to include the South Central Coast on Wednesday. Mariners should exercise caution and monitor updates.
Data from the Bureau suggests that the weather conditions are influenced by a strong high pressure system currently south of the Bight. This system is expected to shift northeastward, positioning over the eastern states by late today and then moving towards the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. This movement will pave the way for a cold front that will sweep across South Australia late Wednesday and Thursday, bringing multiple fronts over the weekend.
Additionally, the agricultural areas around Adelaide will experience cold conditions early on Wednesday with possibilities of frost, similar to this morning. However, there is a forecast of showers in the Lower South East district which is predicted to bring some relief from the dry conditions.
Adelaide’s temperature today is noted to be near average in central parts but slightly below average elsewhere across the region. Tomorrow promises slightly above-average temperatures providing a warmer day for the community.
