Adelaide’s weather forecast for Wednesday December 4th

Adelaide gears up for a string of hot days, with temperatures peaking at 37°C, accompanied by possible thunderstorms and showers.

Adelaide will enjoy sunny skies with a top temperature of 30 degrees today, according to the latest updates from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). Light winds will pick up, becoming easterly at 15 to 20 km/h during the late evening. The probability of rainfall remains at zero percent.

As we look ahead to Thursday, 5 December, temperatures are expected to soar to a maximum of 37 degrees. The day will start with minimal clouds and an increased likelihood of showers as the day progresses. By evening, there is a potential for thunderstorms. Wind directions will change throughout the day, starting from easterly, shifting to northeasterly before dawn at speeds of 15 to 25 km/h, and finally turning southeasterly by evening. There is a minimal 20 percent chance of rain.

On Friday, 6 December, weather conditions will intensify with expected thunderstorms and a likely increase in showers. The temperature is set to peak at 35 degrees after a minimum of 23 degrees. Rainfall could range between 0 to 7 mm, making it a potentially wet day with a 70 percent probability of rain. Winds will vary, starting from the northeast to southeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h, then shifting northwest to southwesterly during the day, and settling southeast to southwesterly during the afternoon.

Looking more broadly, a severe heatwave warning has been issued for the North West Pastoral District, from Tuesday, 3 December until Friday, 6 December. Conditions in the region are expected to be significantly hotter than average, spurring potential health risks and environmental concerns.

Regionally, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are predicted for the northeast and far northeast on Wednesday, with severe thunderstorms possible in the far northwest. While the southeast districts might experience early morning fog patches, the western and northern areas can expect higher temperatures, especially in the far west.

Thursday will see the continuation of turbulent weather with scattered thunderstorms across the northeast and development in the far west as the day progresses. These conditions might intensify into severe thunderstorms later in the day, accompanied by elevated temperatures and humidity. Winds throughout the region will remain robust, primarily northeastern to northerly, changing to southern to southeasterly along the coasts in the afternoon.

Finally, Friday will wrap up the week with another round of showers and thunderstorms, with some potentially severe. The day will remain humid with above-average minimum and maximum temperatures, and steady southwestern to southeasterly winds will prevail across most areas of the west and south.
