Adelaide’s west gains new gin and tapas bar Junipers on the Marina

Boasting million-dollar views and stellar sunsets, Marina Pier’s newest addition also provides guests with flamboyant table-side presentation of exquisite dishes.

Adelaide’s newest gin and tapas bar, Junipers on the Marina, has opened on the stunning Marina Pier in Glenelg, where you can taste a host of freshly made small plates and sip on cocktails in front of some epic beachfront views.

As the name would suggest, Junipers needs to be on your radar if you’re an Adelaidean that’s serious about gin, with a lengthy spirit list sure to impress any ginthusiast. Serving more than 42 global gin varieties, from China and Italy to home-grown favourites from Kangaroo Island, Juniper’s masters of mixology can create sinfully good tipples right in front of you with your spirit of choice.

Taking their culinary influence from the rich flavours of Spanish tapas, Junipers on the Marina offers dishes that are as insta-worthy as they are delicious. Giving guests the chance to sample a range of dishes through their small plate offerings, the restaurants menu features everything from in-house baked breads to freshly shucked oysters as well as a few show-stopping dishes presented at your table.

One of the venue’s standout dishes is a deboned quail, marinated in a chef’s special sauce, chargrilled and served with Spanish chickpeas and salami stew, smoked with cherrywood in a glass dome for an impressive table-side presentation.

Junipers quail dish is flamboyantly presented, with a waft of curling dry ice swirling around the dish, and sweet-toothed visitors are sure to eye up the Creme Caramel dessert that’s adorned with fairy floss and drizzled with Quantro, which is then lit on fire (by an expert server!) in a flourish of melted, sugary goodness.

An upbeat, Spanish vibe welcomes guests from the moment you walk in the door, with outdoor heaters inviting you to enjoy the sea breeze in outdoor seating in both the front and back of the large venue, and a large open plan kitchen where you can watch Juniper’s expert chefs plate up dish after dish.

With a blue and white interior, that features natural wood accents Junipers provides atmospheric lighting and touches of greenery cascading from the ceiling, transporting you straight to a warm al fresco evening in Europe, with food and an ambience to match.

Weekends signal a rise in tempo for Junipers, with local acoustic artists playing every Sunday and a resident DJ making sure your tapas and cocktails are served with a side of bass every Saturday night.

Not only providing a Saturday night party, the venue also offers a varied breakfast menu on Saturday and Sunday, with the mouth-watering food and ocean views providing an idyllic tonic to any cloudy heads from the night before.

Those heading to Junipers on the Marina for breaky can expect everything from egg tacos with brisket and pico de gallo, to decadent red velvet pancakes topped with fairy floss, golden syrup and a handful of fresh berries.
