For as long as we can remember, the Parades on Norwood Parade have been a standout event enjoyed by the whole family as part of the Adelaide Fashion Festival. Whether it is gloriously sunny or pouring with rain, the event is a flagship in the Norwood area. On Sunday we were blown away by what was on offer at the Market Stalls, complimented by three separate parades showcasing all the latest trends were offered by the wonderful nearby retailers, presented by Norwood Place and the City of Payneham, Norwood & St Peters.
First to the parades, and the trends on offer. For the women this season, we saw a lot and (like really a lot) of terracotta! In all types of fabrics whether that be crochet pieces or satin dresses, this colour is predicted to be one of those most popular and seen almost everywhere. Diversity in brands including Outdoors on Parade with the cutest cotton PJs covered in palm trees and watermelons (sleepovers are making a comeback with these babies) to luxe pieces from Sooki ranging gorgeous lace, embroidered and Grecian styled dresses in soft pastel tones and whites.
Nautical also seems to be a common theme where Portmans and Sportscraft range pops of red, white and navy together with their classic tailored cuts in blazers and pants. Country Road adds a bit of a khaki and pale peach twist with stripes and linen fabrics. Gazman also incorporates a similar colour palette; the guys will love this carefree yet chic style!
Oh and how can we forget the floral? A near must for Spring and Summer of course! Serafina, Dotti and Blue Illusion are a few to name who have incorporated both pastel and bold floral prints in their garments. Aqua has an eye catching Oriental styled bomber jacket which takes us on a trip to Japan! Yes please.
But the real star of this event every year is the Markets, curated by the wonderful programing team behind our iconic Gilles Street Markets. Those who were lucky enough to trawl the offerings would have found some of the best up-and-coming names like Harvey The Label on special, homewares for days, vintage for miles and a collective of some of the finest creative market names. Dare we herald this as the best market offering in Adelaide? We haven’t seen a better one for a long while and if you missed out, let’s be honest, it’s painful waiting an entire year at the prospect of snapping up new season bargains.
