As winter sets in, innovative Tasmanian winery Josef Chromy is crossing the icy Bass Strait to create a striking cool-meets-warm climate collaboration with premium Barossa label St Hugo.
Expect to be seated among the vine-draped surrounds of Rowland Flat, in St Hugo’s beautiful Stone Lounge with exposed brick and arched windows framing sweeping views of the Barossa.
As night falls, glowing canapés will circulate the room while you raise glistening glasses of sparkling to an unforgettable evening.
Delicate, flavourful modern Australian cuisine will be paired to perfection alongside premium drops from both wineries on Friday, 6 June at 6pm.
The event is part of the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia series, which showcases premium wineries offering experiences beyond the traditional cellar door visit.
This particular event will see Chief Winemakers Peter Munro of St Hugo and Yael Sandler of Josef Chromy lead the evening.
“What a great concept,” Munro said. “Bringing together the history and tradition of the Barossa & Coonawarra, and the exciting youthful vibrancy of Tasmania. Having made wines across all the regions I know this will be a memorable occasion.”

St Hugo’s Executive Chef Simon Hicks will design and prepare the decadent four-course menu.
“It will represent modern-Australian classics with a twist, done exceptionally well, and taking inspiration from our seasonal onsite Kitchen Garden, where we source many of our fresh produce for our menu. A menu to enhance the exceptional wines being served on the night,” said Chef Hicks.
The evening aims to shift your expectations of a typical winery dinner. Winemakers Peter Munro and Yael Sandler will guide you through a journey from grape to award-winning drop, evoking unexpected and exquisite flavours through inventive pairings along the way.

“It’s firstly a wine-centric dinner, with wines the hero with Chef Simon’s delectable cuisine as the perfect pairing to this wine and food experience,” Shane Gibbons of St Hugo said.
“Hearing directly from the winemakers themselves, and how they work within their own regions and terroirs to create these premium, signature wines will be a real point of difference,” Gibbons continued.
It’s not the first time these two labels have come together. In fact, October last year saw Josef Chromy invite St Hugo to their Tasmanian cellar door for an inaugural sell-out collaboration.

This year’s dinner will be an intimate yet lively affair, hosting up to 40 guests. With bookings expected to fill fast, it’ll be wise to secure your spot early.
