An award-winning pub and function venue in Adelaide’s western suburbs quietly shut its doors this November. After a period of uncertainty and a positive turn of events, The Brompton Hotel has been bought by new owners, who are set to take over on December 11th.

The Brompton Hotel was previously owned by Duxton Pubs Group, who bought the venue in 2021 and fully renovated the space. Making it fit right in with other well-known venues in the area, think Jarmer’s Kitchen, Oddio and Plant 4 Bowden. The initial change in ownership also saw a new chef brought in, Andrew Wandless. Andrew had honed his skills in the bustling London food scene, including at Michelin-starred Hibiscus, founded by French chef Claude Bosi, as well as Texture, a Scandinavian restaurant and champagne bar.

In a statement shared on the front door of The Brompton and its website, the change of hands was explained.

“We wish to inform our valuable patrons and friends that The Brompton has recently been sold and will be handed over to new ownership in the coming weeks.

“We thank you for your patronage over the years and are looking forward to seeing what the new owners have in store for this great Western Suburbs pub.”

The Duxton Pubs group further revealed that although The Brompton was not on the market, but the group received a compelling offer and agreed to the sale.

“The Brompton continues to operate as a function space for events and is still taking bookings until the official settlement and handover in the coming weeks,” said Duxton Pubs CEO Mark Condi.

“Our employees will continue their careers with the Duxton Pubs Group at our other venues.”

As Duxton Pubs Group moves forward, it remains focused on the strategic expansion of its portfolio, now boasting 25 venues across Australia. “We are unwavering in our goal to be one of Australia’s pre-eminent hospitality groups,” added Mr. Condi.

Duxton is owned by a team of local hospitality experts, who now operate metropolitan and regional pubs including, The Lion Hotel, The Cremorne, Little Bang Brewing Co., and many more.

Settlement is set to occur on December 11th, at which point the venue and its communications operations will be handed over to the Dean Group.
