In 2016, ALDI arrived in South Australia, and has quickly spread its wings, setting up 13 stores around Adelaide. Two are set to open this month, with their new Norwood supermarket ready to open its doors in mid-June.
From 8.30am on Wednesday 17th June, ALDI Norwood be open for business, and ready to provide the community with award-winning grocery products and popular Special Buys, together with fresh fruit, vegetables and bread delivered daily. Multiple South Australian product lines will also feature in the store.

“We’re excited to be opening our new store in Norwood and look forward to showing local residents the difference ALDI can make to their wallets and lifestyles.”
ALDI Norwood features a number of innovations that will offer an enhanced shopping experience for customers, with better product displays, improved navigation and a modern interior store design.
Features include redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays, as well as extended energy efficient chillers. As energy management remains a key priority for ALDI, the store has energy efficient LED lighting. There will also be improved point-of-sale displays and store signage.
“While we’re delighted to be introducing these innovations, we want our customers to know they won’t lead to higher prices,” said Viktor. “Low prices are a big deal for ALDI. In fact, we refuse to be beaten on price. This
is our fundamental point of difference and one we will never give away.”
The store will also have social distancing measures in place, including 1.5 metre social distancing floor markers at the checkouts and hand sanitizer station at the store’s entrance.
ALDI opened its first stores in South Australia in 2016 and are proud to be a contributor to the local economy.
In ALDI’s report, “Making a good difference: How ALDI contributes to the Australian economy”, it was found that in 2018 alone, ALDI contributed over $168 million to the South Australian economy, including over $2.1 million to the Norwood Payneham St Peters local government area, through local business partnerships, operations and tax.
To celebrate the opening of ALDI Norwood, there will be a number of unique Special Buys on offer, which will not be available collectively in any other store. ALDI’s Special Buys offer a surprising and unexpected collection of products at unbeatable prices, across a range of categories like skiing, gardening, cooking or entertaining.
Special Buys have become incredibly popular with Australian shoppers and are just one way ALDI distinguishes itself from other supermarkets. They appear in store every Wednesday and Saturday, and customers are given a preview of the products one week before they are in store via ALDI’s catalogue, enewsletter, app and website.
ALDI Norwood will be supported by a team of 15-20 permanent full and part-time employees, providing a unique career opportunity in retail.

The new store will be located at 76 Magill Road, Norwood. Opening hours will be 8:30am-8pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours until 9pm Thursday. Weekend hours will be 8am-5pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
