Alexandra Lingerie has expanded to a new boutique in Rundle Mall, which is twice as big and carries an even larger range of styles and sizes.
Moving just across the way of their old store, and staying within the Adelaide Arcade, The Parisian boutique has set out to make the lingerie industry a more inclusive place, offering a large selection of stylish bras ranging from a D-K cup and bands spanning from a size 8-22.
The extensive collection which specialises in European brands, includes underwired, moulded, sports and maternity bras, as well as swimwear, sleepwear and lingerie accessories, all with distinctive French touches.
Alexandra Lingerie owner, Alexandra Vaissière, was inspired to start the boutique after struggling to find a bra that fit well and made her feel fabulous.
“As a woman with bra size 8H, it was really tough to find options for my size. What young woman would be happy facing a lifetime of wearing granny bras every, single day?! Not me!”, she says.
At just 23-years-old, Alexandra had completed her professional fitting training in one of France’s top lingerie boutiques and noticed a distinct gap in the market for curvy women.
“I was already working in lingerie and I was frustrated because I was selling bras that I couldn’t fit into and I could also see that despite my best efforts to fit people correctly, there was an unmet market needed for more size diversity”, Alexandra says.
“Other major lingerie stores label their largest size as an H-cup, however most of the time they are not using an accurate sizing system and it is actually an FF at the most”, she continues.
“The lack of smaller band sizes means that women are left wearing very ill-fitting compromises”.
With recent stats showing that over 90% of women are wearing the wrong size bra, Alexandra set out to change this by offering specialised fitting services.
With many years of lingerie fitting experience, Alexandra has earned herself the title of Australia’s ‘big boob expert.’
“I haven’t met a pair of boobs I couldn’t fit. I have encountered women of every size and shape and worked to ensure they are fully and correctly supported”.
