On Mix 102.3’s Max and Ali in the Morning show, Ali Clarke announced she will be returning to the airwaves after several weeks of recovery from a mastectomy. Her return is set for 6am tomorrow morning (Wednesday August 14th).
After bravely sharing her breast cancer diagnosis on air on July 23rd, Ali visited the team this morning, expressing her joy to be back in the studio with Hayley, Max and Burgo’s. Max, eager to welcome her back, asked if she felt ready to return to work. Ali responded with enthusiasm, suggesting, “Tomorrow?”
Ali Clarke recently launched a new initiative, “MIX 102.3 BREAST CHECK DAY,” aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. Following her own diagnosis, Ali has used her platform to encourage regular self-breast checks. The campaign reminds Australians to perform these checks on the first day of each month, using the engaging phrase, “Have you felt yours lately?”
BreastScreen SA have reported a significant spike in women booking breast screenings, recording 779 appointments in one day, a figure only overshadowed by the bookings made when Kylie Minogue announced her cancer diagnosis years ago.
Ali Clarke passionately reminded listeners of the importance of dialogue and regular checks: “It’s about early detection, and ask your girlfriends, wives, sisters and aunties… have you checked yours lately?”
“We are encouraging everyone to feel their boobs or get friendly with their breasts on the first of every month. Because there isn’t a cure for breast cancer it is all about early prevention,” Ali Clarke said.
