Epic playgrounds across Adelaide for you and your kids to discover this spring.

As the weather continues to improve and we begin to venture outside again, some of us are wondering how to fill our weekends with activities that will keep the kids entertained.

Our friends at Kids in Adelaide are always keeping us up to date with the latest kid-friendly happenings in Adelaide.

Thanks to them, we have found some NEW epic playgrounds for you and your family to discover this spring!

The playgrounds listed have either been recently redeveloped, maintained or built thanks to local council funding.

With school holidays just around the corner, we’re sure this guide will help you keep them entertained.

Blackwood Park Treetops Playground

Corner of Blackwood Park Blvd and Champion Way, Craigburn Farm.

Based amongst the existing trees in the new Blackwood Park Estate, this new play space is an adventure haven for all children. Whilst the rope climb is the centerpiece of this epic play area, there are lots of other pieces of equipment for the kids to enjoy too.

Fremont Park Playground

Fremont Park, Elizabeth.

After its $2 million redevelopment, the Fremont Park Playground is ready to enjoy. This playground includes all-abilities equipment, heaps of play areas, BBQ facilities, toilets, drinking fountains and plenty of seating for parents to sit back and relax.

Hendrie Street Reserve Inclusive Playspace

120B Hendrie Street, Park Holme.

This magical playground brings together all kids, allowing them to play side by side regardless of ability. Hendrie Street Reserve at Parkholme was recently closed for maintenance and has now been fully restored. The play equipment features 2 slippery dips, multiple swings (including an expression swing), rope climbing frames and a mini rock-climbing wall.

Heywood Park Mini Ninja Course

Addiscombe Place, Unley Park.

Heywood Park in Unley has recently unveiled their brand new mini ninja course. Perfect for kids to test out their ninja skills these school holidays, the epic obstacle course is designed for kids aged between 10 and 14. The course is full of obstacles that’ll make you run, jump or crawl your way to the designated finish line. There’s also a huge grass area nearby for picnics.

Kensington Park Oval Playground

Kensington Park Oval Playground, The Parade, Kensington Park.

The recently redeveloped Kensington Park Oval Playground has swings, balancing logs, a slide and a small tower for small children to play amongst. The playground is nestled amongst the beautiful surrounds of Kensington Oval, with nature playing a big part in the theming of the play equipment. The good news is that this playground is now fully enclosed with a protective fence.

MJ McInerney Reserve

Sackville Street, West Croydon.

The recently redeveloped MJ McInerney Reserve playground space has been completely overhauled to produce an amazing play area for the family to enjoy. The extensive list of play equipment includes a sand and water play area, slides, a full skate park, basketball courts, twin flying fox, climbing nets, swing bridges and more.

Prettejohn Reserve Para Hills

12 Maves Road, Para Hills.

The City of Salisbury has unveiled their newly renovated play space at Prettejohn Gully Reserve in Para Hills. The now fully fenced playground has a multi-play unit, activity box, monkey bars, musical equipment, talking tubes, carousel, two-person springer, sandpit and swings.

St Clair Recreation Precinct

109 Woodville Road, Woodville.

This new development features some epic slides, in-ground trampolines and a massive nest swing. There’s also curly slides, a climbing wall, sandpits and some water play areas. The redevelopment also includes excellent BBQ facilities with plenty of shade areas to relax under.
