All the restrictions that come into effect today as one new case announced

The new restrictions which came into effect overnight include rules regarding camping, accommodation, zoos and more.

There have been 18 new cases of COVID-19 announced yesterday, with the 18th person being declared in the 5:30pm update. Those testing positive are people aged one through to their 80s, taking South Australia’s total number of cases to 544.

Premier Steven Marshall has this morning announced one new case overnight, which is still being processed by SA Health, but it’s a close contact of one of the original 15 cluster cases. It’s unclear if the new case falls within the 18 announced late yesterday, but we’ll clarify as soon as we receive more information.

Parafield Cluster update
• Thirteen of yesterday’s cases are linked to the cluster
• In addition, there are three suspected cases in children
• Two cases are hospitalised in a stable condition
• All remaining positive cases are in a medi-hotel
• Total number of cases and suspected cases linked to the cluster is 19 people

There are 34 active cases and 167 close contacts of confirmed cases being contacted daily for symptom checks.

Overnight, SA Police have released further details on two directions which have been updated in South Australia; Public Activities and Residential Aged Care which both came into effect at 0001 Tuesday 17 November.

The updates and key information of the Directions are as follow but please be aware that more detail is contained within each direction.

Public Activities

The total number of people present at a place must not exceed 1 person per 4 square metres.

➡️Gatherings

  • Onsite purchase and consumption of food and beverages- 100 people max & no more than 10 people at each table.
  • Funeral- 50 people max
  • Weddings- 150 people max & registration of all guests with SA Health
  • Religious Ceremonies- 100 people max
  • Private gatherings- 50 people max
  • Private residence- 10 people max (unless more than 10 people permanently live at the house then they are permitted to stay)
  • Caravan park- maximum of 10 people per site.
  • All other holiday accommodation- maximum number of people permitted to sleep the premises up to 10 people max

➡️ Food and beverages must be consumed while seated.

➡️ Gyms, recreation centres, trampoline and play cafes are to close.

➡️ Outdoor fitness and recreation activities such as boot camps are still permitted.

➡️ Swimming for fitness or rehabilitation purposes at swimming pools is still permitted.

➡️ Entertainment venues (including museums, cinemas, zoos, etc., see direction for more).

➡️ Personal Care (beauty salons, tattoo parlours, day spas, etc., see direction for more) must ensure employees wear PPE when providing services.

Residential Aged Care

➡️ A person cannot provide care at one care facility within 14 days of providing care at a different facility.

➡️ A person providing personal care, nursing, health, medical or allied health services to residents must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if they are within 1.5 metres from the resident, whilst providing care.

➡️ Care and support visits made to residents of an aged care facility are now restricted to 2 people per day. .

Further COVID-19 Advice

The SA Government has released updated COVID-19 advice due to the Parafield cluster. Please note the following are recommended but do not form part of a formal directive at this point in time.

➡️ South Australian residents should work from home where possible.

➡️ Vulnerable people are advised to stay at home and avoid having visitors at the moment.

➡️ Unnecessary travel is discouraged.

➡️ South Australian residents should wear a mask when physical distancing of 1.5m cannot be observed, e.g. on public transport.

The Emergency Management (Public Activities No 11) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 and The Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 13) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 both revoke previous directions.
