Alliance College has teamed up with the popular chain SOHO Coffee Roasters, bringing a unique initiative to its Adelaide Campus.

The café will also be utilised by Commercial Cookery and Hospitality students for meeting work placement requirements. This new training model offers Alliance College students a rare chance to get hands-on experience within a live environment as part of their course study.

Founded in 1981 and formerly known as the Adelaide Tourism and Hospitality School, the institution has been operating in South Australia for more than 40 years and is home to a predominantly international student body.

SOHO Coffee Roasters has a substantial number of franchises across Adelaide, but this new cafe on Pirie Street is dedicated to Alliance College students exclusively, providing them with a central location to fulfil their course requirements.

“One of the biggest reasons why we have this collaboration with SOHO Coffee Roasters is because we want to offer students the opportunity to get real-time experience working with reputed brands such as SOHO Coffee Roasters”, said the spokesperson at Alliance College.

Alliance College provides a range of programs unique to this campus, including an on-site student café, purpose-built training kitchens and a function centre. While also offering external placements ranging from cafes, bars, fine dining restaurants and wineries to 5-star hotels and resorts in regions throughout Australia.

“SOHO Coffee Roasters will give students the opportunity to work in any role within the hospitality framework, whether as a barista or somewhere on the management level, there is plenty of room for them to grow.”.

“The cafe will be located right underneath campus, which will make students’ lives a whole lot easier when it comes to placement and working to achieve their qualifications.”.

The cafe is now open and is running five days a week on the College campus at 97 Pirie Street, Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm. Stop by on your way to work for a coffee and to support the students as they embark on this fantastic new journey.
