Swordman’s Kitchen can be found nestled in the heart of Rundle Street, and if you’re on a mission can be easily missed when breezing down the road. Describing itself as a modern Asian eatery, serving Japanese and Vietnamese cuisines, Swordman’s serve street food by day and an artisan array of contemporary Asian delights by night.

The food at Swordman’s will leave you feeling both fresh and full, with the menu ranging from small sushi dishes to larger dishes such as udon and traditional rice bowls. The restaurant brings new life to old favourites, with their creative blend of flavours hitting all the right notes. Swordman’s is super affordable, with much of the menu sitting below the $20 mark, an absolute bonus to this cosy nook in the wall venue.

Swordman’s also offers a degustation menu featuring a tasting plate bursting at the seams with seafood delights, the chef’s special of roasted pumpkin and pine nut dumplings, tempura prawn and vegetables, char grilled Black Angus porterhouse in teriyaki sauce partnered with Enoki mushrooms, creamy king prawn, Swiss brown mushroom and truffle risotto, finished off with a lemon lime sorbet for dessert.

The interior offers a stripped back contemporary industrial look that creates an intimate setting. The restaurant appears as a little hole in the wall but extends far back, giving patrons the option to people watch along Rundle Street or escape the hustle and bustle of the city further inside the restaurant. Swordman’s is just the right size

The restaurant boasts a 5 star review on TripAdvisor. The reviews speak for themselves with one patron claiming it is the “best Japanese food outside of Japan.”

Another patron claimed “flavours are enticingly creative and quite honestly I have not had a meal there that I wasn’t impressed by the blend of flavours. Their food also has a freshness about it that many other places these days lack. Staff are attentive but not imposing.”

Swordman’s has also recently won the Best Asian Catering Dining Specialist Award in SA from the Restaurant and Bar Awards.

The Rundle Street eatery is the perfect spot for a date night, family dinner or a just because solo date.

Swordman’s is open from 11:30am-3:30pm for lunch Tuesday-Saturday, opening from 12 on Sundays. Dinner runs from 6pm-9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with a later 9:30pm finish on Fridays and Saturdays.
