Ambleside Distillers unveils Wild Safari Gin for a good cause

Ambleside Distillers is donating 15% of all proceeds from it’s new Wild Safari Gin to global conservation projects.

“Wildly good Gin, for a wildly good cause!” That’s Ambleside Distillers exciting new Wild Safari Gin.

With a commitment to giving back, Ambleside Distillers is donating 15% of all proceeds from Wild Safari Gin to global conservation projects. This new gin represents a step forward in the distillery’s longstanding partnership with Zoos SA, which began in 2018.

The launch event at Monarto Safari Park on October 2 was a vibrant celebration, marking a significant milestone for South Australia’s largest independent gin distiller.

Co-Founder Matt Dickson shared his enthusiasm.

“We’ve supported Zoos SA projects with limited release gins in the past, but the Wild Safari Gin is available all year round, which means we’re donating proceeds all year round,” he said.

The excitement around this collaboration is palpable, with Dickson noting that the gin has already helped raise over $80,000 for animal conservation.

“We’re really excited about this gin and what it will do to help animals not just here in Australia, but in South Africa too,” he added.

Wild Safari Gin is a delightful blend that marries the best of Ambleside’s previous award-winning collaborations, Kifaru Gin and Kiboko Gin. The result? A refreshing and approachable spirit, perfect for any occasion with tantalising notes of toffee apple from Native Tanami Apple and a burst of fresh Lemon Verbena citrus. Offering a delightful herbaceous mid-palate featuring Monarto Mintbush, Saltbush, and roasted Wattleseed complemented by a crisp Red Apple finish and warm Cassia notes, making it an ideal ‘Sundowner’, especially when paired with fresh grapefruit and Mediterranean tonic.

“This is certainly a gin for good,” said Elaine Bensted, Chief Executive of Zoos SA.

“A percentage of each sale supports local conservation projects, including a crucial breeding-for-release program for the critically endangered Orange-Bellied Parrot. It will aid SANParks Honorary Rangers in their fight against poaching and improve safety for rangers in South Africa,” she said.

“Plus Wild Safari Gin features local ingredients like mintbush and wattleseed sourced from Monarto Safari Park! What could be better?”

The gin’s label is a work of art designed by Dr. Jerome Kalvas, a resident vet at Monarto Safari Park. Drawing from his experience with wildlife, he created a stunning depiction of a safari landscape.

“When I thought of Wild Safari Gin sundowners, I envisioned an expansive sunset landscape,” Dr. Kalvas explained.

“Capturing that tranquility while watching incredible African animals roam was my inspiration. Contributing my artwork to this project and supporting real conservation efforts has been incredibly satisfying!”

To celebrate the launch, Ambleside Distillers will host a long weekend event at their Hahndorf distillery.

The ‘Gin Jams Vol. 1: Hahndorf Spring Gin Revival‘ event on Sunday, October 6th, from 12pm to 7pm, will feature live music from Lucas Day, delicious Mississippi Po’ Boy Sandos cooked over fire, and special Wild Safari Gin drinks.

Enjoy a refreshing spirit while supporting vital conservation work with Wild Safari Gin now available for $89, supporting Zoos SA local conservation work and the SANS Parks Honorary Rangers. Cheers to a gin that not only tastes good but does good!
