The iconic Ambra Spirits Distillery in Thebarton is celebrating 25 years of business with bold renovations set to be completed this October. The fun, flavour, and passion that has always been rooted in the business’ ethos will be carried into its bold new look, which has finally been unveiled.

“The whole team is getting very excited now it’s getting closer…there’s no better way to celebrate 25 years of business,” Business manager, Marco Pagliarulo, tells Glam Adelaide.

Marco says the guys at Ambra had “gone all out”, gutting the venue to make way for two new outdoor eating areas, an updated kitchen to accommodate a new tapas-style menu, and a funky bar set to be the main attraction.

“The look and feel of the distillery will be be modern. There will be a big still on show, and our mobile bar which we call ‘Sophia’ will be on display in the distillery itself,” Marco says.

Founded in 1998 by the late Libero De Luca, Ambra Spirits uses the best Australian products, inspired by authentic Italian family recipes, handed down through generations.

After Libero’s retirement in 2013, at the age of 80, the business was passed on to new owners, Peppe Fusco and Nando Focareta, who share a common passion for continuing the vision created, while taking Ambra forward with exciting new opportunities.

Standing out on bottle shop shelves with its brightly labelled and uniquely shaped bottles, Ambra’s Spritz Bar carries over that fun and vibrant feel and is only 5 minutes from the city, with the convenience of tram access.

While Ambra Spirits is currently open for bottle sales only, the distillery plans to open its doors just in time for summer tasting sessions.

“The guys went all out for this revamp. Helping celebrate 25 years in business, we’ll have a new kitchen, new pairings, polished concrete floors and wooden table settings,” he said.

“We’ll have more food and more seating options, and we’ll be mixing our own produce into the menu, with things like Limoncello marinated chicken wings and a blood orange chicken dish. It’ll be an infusion-style menu”.

“It’s such a fun, vibrant and playful business with a wonderful history. We look forward to welcoming people back to relax and have a drink.”

The distillers at Ambra are still busy co-ordinating the with fresh Riverland produce being transformed into the Distiller’s signature limoncello and citrus gin.
