Amity Dry Adds Dates To Fringe Season To Keep Up With Demand

This hilarious new show from Amity Dry looks at ageing in a world where 40 is the new 30, but only with the right Instagram filter.

Adelaide loves Amity Dry, and it’s no surprise why. The gorgeous, approachable blonde stole our hearts after her big break, appearing on reality show The Block alongside her husband Phil Rankine in 2003. Since then we’ve seen Amity’s true talent – on the stage – blossom, and while she began performing as a child, it’s the way she commands her audience’s attention now, at the ripe old age of 39, that has us cheering in our seats.

Amity’s new cabaret show 39 FOREVER (a tribute to her age), which has 12 dates booked for this year’s Adelaide Fringe, has met with a huge audience response, selling out four shows already. Being the consummate professional that she is, Amity hasn’t left audiences hanging, and has announced five additional dates in a bigger venue – the 430 seat Octagon theatre in Gluttony.

Gluttony Director Daniel Michael says, “We are so excited to see how well Amity has been selling in Gluttony, it’s well deserved. She’s been in the Cabaret festival before but this is now a full length season in Fringe. It’s a testament to her skill as a performer that people like what they have seen in the past and want more”.

39 FOREVER follows on from the international success of Amity’s musical MOTHER, WIFE & THE COMPLICATED LIFE which most recently staged a 43 show national tour, receiving 5 star reviews. It was selected for the New York Musical Theatre Festival, has performed at the the United Nations and 54 Below in New York and was translated into Norwegian for a season in Norway, with Swedish and UK productions currently in development. ‘Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life’ also debuted as a cabaret show in the 2009 Adelaide Fringe Festival, in a testament to the fantastic launching pad the Fringe is for future success. After winning over audiences and critics alike with her honest and humorous account of marriage and motherhood, Amity now turns her attention to the ageing process. 39 FOREVER is a relatable, insightful and laugh out loud comedy about ageing in an image obsessed world, where social media, selfies and Botox have forever changed the quest for eternal youth.

39 FOREVER plays from March 7-19 at 9pm in the Spiegel Zelt in Gluttony, with the additional dates on March 10, 11, 12, 13 & 18 at 5.15pm in the Octagon in Gluttony.
