The final countdown for award entries begins as the nomination period for the inaugural Amnesty International Australia Media Awards enters its final month.

The Media Awards acknowledge Australian media stories and photojournalism that have presented a fair and balanced report of a human rights issue, highlighted hidden abuses and encouraged greater understanding of human rights.

Amnesty International Australia urges journalists, photographers, and their producers and editors to nominate stories and photojournalism broadcast or published between 1 August 2013 and 1 August 2014.

In this first year, the awards have four categories: Indigenous media, Broadcast media, Print/Online media and Photojournalism.

The closing date to enter is Monday 18 August so make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to have your exceptional human rights reporting or photojournalism recognised.

The winners will be announced in October 2014.
