Amy Meredith say ‘Thank God It’s Monday’

Carlton Dry’s Thank God It's Monday industry nights are back in full swing, as chart topping Australian pop rockers Amy Meredith plan to turn Monday on its head yet again.

Carlton Dry began Thank God It's Monday seven months ago as an incentive for hard working bar staff, bringing back industry nights on a Monday instead of the typical Friday or Saturday. With four successful live shows already organized, Monday nights in Adelaide have gone from mundane to exciting, with a record breaking 1000 guests at the last Thank God It's Monday show.

Amy Meredith bassist Wade Osborn is looking forward to tonight's TGIM being a less than typical Monday night for himself and fellow bandmates.

'It's such a good thing to be doing a show on a Monday night. Everybody hates Mondays… I wish I had something to do every Monday night, it's probably the worst night of the week'

Since releasing album Restless, Amy Meredith have enjoyed both critical and commercial success; their debut single Lying reaching top 10 on the ARIA Charts, with nods for Breakthrough Artist and Most Popular Australian Artist at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards. Aside from that, there's been a lot of 'other attention' thrown their way from female fans.

'The attention is kind of weird. It's definitely cool and we appreciate it, but it does get a bit strange. But it's not a bad thing, definitely good!' Wade laughs.

Wade also spoke of the band's stance on the local music and indie scene.

'Everyone wants to be the 'coolest' band out there. We just decided to put that aside and write the music we enjoy playing.  No matter what you do, there's going to be people out there who love it or hate it, regardless of whether you're the coolest band in the world or not. We try not to think too much about the people who crticize us, we just do what we love doing'

Amy Meredith's new EP is slated for a November release, with the sound described as 'edgier' than the band's previous work.
