A chance meeting between food entrepreneurs Mirella Morizzi-Tambakis and Leah Itsines at Caffe Paparazzi has led to an innovative new business venture, bringing ‘Healthy Street Food’ to South Australians.

With the wellness and healthy eating revolution carving up the local food industry, Caffe Paparazzi has teamed up with adventurous young chef and publisher, Leah Itsines, to add a vibrant ‘Healthy Street Food’ option to its menu.

The move follows Caffe Paparazzi’s introduction earlier this year of a clean eating menu to complement its more traditional Italian-inspired fare and will, according to owner Mirella, allow the Malvern-based restaurant to cater for all palates, lifestyles and pockets.

“We’re really excited to team up with Leah, who is one of the most talented and health-conscious emerging chefs in Australia, to offer customers an affordable and convenient menu that’s bursting with freshness, flavour and goodness,” Mirella said.

“And judging by the initial response to Leah’s ‘Healthy Street Food on the Go’ menu, there’s a definite appetite out there for fast but healthy food.”

The concept came about over a casual chat between the two friends and food visionaries earlier this year when Leah shared her desire to make quick, easy, tasty and healthy food the new fast food.

Leah has been so passionate about it that she has already written a recipe e-book eBook called “Eat with Leah” which is aimed at women who stress about the foods they eat and suffer through boring and bland diets in an attempt to stay fit and healthy.

“I saw my ebookas a great way of showing people that you can eat well without sacrificing taste or having to spend hours on the preparation,” Leah explained.

“But I never imagined having the opportunity to bring it to life so soon so you can imagine how excited I was when Mirella suggested I develop a street food menu for Caffe Paparazzi.

“It’s a dream come true and I look forward to working with the Paparazzi team to change perceptions, to tap into the reasons why most people go for fast foods – they’re a quick, easy and convenient option in an increasingly time-poor society – and to provide them with just that, but in a fresh, healthy and nutritious way.”

Caffe Paparazzi’s ‘Healthy Street Food’ menu currently comprises dishes such as vermicelli noodle salads, chicken cotoletta focaccias, chicken wraps to zucchini, pumpkin and feta fritters and bliss balls. All available each day from 7.30am. The choices, at just $8.50 each, will change on a rotational basis, with plans already in place to introduce new meals and extend the range.

“Caffe Paparazzi’s philosophy has always been to please our customers by listening to them and delivering according to their changing culinary needs,” Mirella said.

“While the Clean Eating menu with its gluten free, dairy free and sugar and preservatives free choices was a significant first step, the ‘Healthy Street Food’ menu continues the evolution and sits comfortably between our traditional Paparazzi and Clean Eating menu items.”
