Are you a keen thrifter, bargain hunter, or vintage lover? Well, we’ve found something you’re not going to want to miss!

This June, local radio station Life FM is throwing a unique pre-loved shopping event. This isn’t just your normal market, Op Till You Drop is bringing together some of Adelaide’s very best op shops and vintage sellers all under one roof for a massive second-hand market.

Hosted in Port Adelaide at the historic Hart’s Mill, Op Till You Drop will be raising money for a wide range of not-for-profit organisations and community programs. So while you get to shop some epic vintage pieces, you can feel good knowing your dollars are supporting great causes.

“Our Fundraising Manager, Lorrene and a former team member at Life FM originally came up with the concept a while ago, but it’s great to see it finally coming to fruition,” shared Maz from the event team.

“Being a community radio station and particularly a Christian radio station, one of our key focuses is on outreach and being a positive focus for all members of the community.”

“Op till you Drop promises a fun, family-friendly day out that is suitable for all budgets and encourages sustainability, as well as awareness and fundraising for charity groups.”

The market will be full of amazing fashion pieces, but also expect a collection of books, bric-a-brac, food trucks, live music from local artists, coffee, kids’ activities, and more. There will even be a fashion show highlighting some of the standout op shop finds.

Heaps of local op shops are already on board for the event, including Henley Opportunity Shop, Second Chances SA Op Shop, and Little Red Dinosaur, just to name a few.

“We wanted to create a space for community groups and op-shops to come together in a special event that would allow thrift lovers to convene and support multiple organisations all in the one place,” Maz said.

These markets are also a great thing to get involved with, especially if you’re part of an SA-based op shop team. If you’d like to get in on the action, there’s still time to register for a stall with general registrations open until 10 May.

For those thinking of attending, Maz says that parking is available in surrounding streets, though if attending with a group, it may be best to carpool to make car parking easier.

She also shared that entry to the market is upon a gold coin donation, which will go to support Life FM’s fundraising. She also recommends bringing a tote bag or two to fill with goodies purchased on the day!

Hart’s Mill has become a go-to spot for pop-up markets over the years, hosting Markets at the Mill monthly, and has been specially converted to host community events just like Op Till You Drop. Located right in the bustling heart of Port Adelaide, this is a great excuse to head down that way and explore.

So, if you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe sustainably or just enjoy a fun day out by the water, this is the perfect excuse to head to Port Adelaide and hunt for hidden gems.
