Angelakis Bros To Open At The Adelaide Central Market

Renowned South Australian seafood retailer Angelakis Bros will open its first stall at the Adelaide Central Market later this year.

Renowned South Australian seafood retailer Angelakis Bros will open its first stall at the Adelaide Central Market later this year.

After operating from the neighbouring Central Market Arcade location for more than half a century, Angelakis – one of the state’s most well-known fishmongers – will officially become an Adelaide Central Market trader when it opens its doors at Stall 5 and 6. The Arcade location will continue to operate until early 2021.

Adelaide Central Market Authority General Manager Jodie Kannane said she was excited to welcome Angelakis Bros as an official trader to the Market later this year.

“With the addition of Angelakis Bros to our existing high-quality and long-term fishmongers Samtass Bros Seafood and Cappo’s Fish Market, the Adelaide Central Market’s collective seafood offering will ensure we continue to be the best in SA.”

Established in 1960, Angelakis Bros is an Australian family-owned and operated company dedicated to delivering the finest seafood. Angelakis Bros joined the stable of Barossa Fine Foods, Standom Smallgoods and Schulz Butcher when it was acquired in May 2018 by the Knoll family, another one of SA’s most prominent family-owned food business operators.

Angelakis Bros CEO Andreas Knoll said he was thrilled to be moving into the Adelaide Central Market after operating in the Market precinct for so many years.

“Fresh, local seafood is essential to successful fresh produce markets, and we look forward to offering customers a new and exciting seafood experience to enjoy at the Adelaide Central Market.”

The new Angelakis Bros stall will be reconstructed from the ground up and include a brand new Mediterranean inspired fit-out, focussed on fresh local seafood.

In addition to SA seafood, the new Angelakis Bros stall will include Australian seafood, value-added products and a range of smoked fish, poultry and ready-to-eat products.

The official opening date for the Angelakis Bros stall will be announced soon.

Established in 1869, the Adelaide Central Market has been a thriving hub of food and culture for over 150 years. With over 70 traders under one roof, the Adelaide Central Market is one of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the southern hemisphere.

Adelaide Central Market is located between Gouger & Grote Street, Adelaide.
