Anything Goes As It’s ‘Back To Broadway’

Be transported back to the ‘golden age’ of musical theatre with ‘Back to Broadway’, the next performance in the Country Arts SA Morning Melodies Series 2015.

Back to BroadwayIf you enjoyed watching the recent Tony Awards saluting excellence in Broadway theatre, have Country Arts SA got a show for you! Be transported back to the ‘golden age’ of musical theatre with the fabulous production Back to Broadway, the next performance in the Country Arts SA Morning Melodies Series 2015.

Back to Broadway recalls the romantic music, colourful costumes, and live choruses that made composers Cole Porter and Irving Berlin so well known in the ’40s and ’50s and keeps audiences returning to their cheerful melodies to this day.

Music theatre performer John Lidgerwood from Style Music introduces new and exciting young Australian professionals to the stage for a morning that will take you back to a time when a trip to the theatre was the most exciting thing you could do!

Looking forward to a South Australian return, John said; “It’s always a treat to entertain in the wide spread venues in South Australia and Style Music with Back To Broadway will be singing and tapping through the great music and stories of Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.”

There will be musical numbers such as Night and Day, You’re the Top, Anything Goes and ballads such as Easy to Love, in this bright and breezy program,” he added.

These countless hit tunes from the era, which remain just as popular today, will have you singing along in your seat. You will also enjoy a taste of the songs that made a name through musicals such as Annie Get Your Gun, Top Hat, Easter Parade, Can Can and High Society.

Join us for a morning tinged with nostalgia, as together we re-live the songs that forever defined those decades of yesteryear as the golden age in musical theatre,” said Susan Baldwin, coordinator of the program.

Whatever your taste in music, you’ll be sure to walk out of the theatre with rose-colour glasses for this one.”

Tickets are $21, groups of 6+ $17, Friends Club Member $19.

The price includes a delicious and complimentary morning tea before the show. Note transaction fees apply.
