Adelaide ANZAC Day Guide

On a day that Australians come together to remember, we bring you a guide to all the events happening in Adelaide…

ANZAC Day is coming up on Tuesday 25 April and is a time for Australians to come together and remember those who have been lost.

There will be a wide range of events on the day at which you can attend to pay your respects. From ceremonies, services and the yearly ANZAC Day March, you can find out everything that you need to know about what’s on and where around Adelaide and South Australia in our guide. Whatever you do, it is important to honour the heroes, both fallen and those still serving.

Dawn Service at the SA National War Memorial

Held at the SA National War Memorial on the corner of Kintore Avenue and North Terrace, this moving ceremony commences at 6am. With the general public welcome to attend this service, there will be large screens set up to allow for the always massive crowds.

ANZAC Day March

Commencing at 9.30am from the SA National War Memorial, the march will turn right on to King William road and make its way to its destination of the Cross of Sacrifice in Pennington Gardens, North Adelaide. Spectators are invited to line both North Terrace and King WIlliam Street to watch the up to 6,000 people who will be participating in the March.

Remembrance Service at the Cross of Sacrifice

Immediately after the ANZAC Day March, there will be a special service from 11:40 am in Pennington Gardens, North Adelaide. This part of the day’s commemorations is the significant finale, as the Dawn Service represents a funeral, the March represents the walk to the grave and the service at the Cross of Sacrifice represents the burial.

ANZAC At Torrens Parade Ground

After the March, everyone is invited back to the Torrens Parade Ground to meet up and enjoy food and drink refreshments. The money spent on these refreshments will be going towards raising funds for the RSL groups.

There will also be a massed pipe band to play after the Cross of Sacrifice finishes up.

ANZAC Eve

 

ANZAC Eve Youth Vigil If you’re schedule on April 25 is absolutely packed, or if you just want to celebrate a day early, the State RSL ANZAC Eve Youth Vigil starts at 6.00pm on ANZAC Eve, at the South Australian National War Memorial on North Terrace and finishes just in time for the Dawn Service at 6:00am the next day.

ANZAC Day at The Moseley If you’re looking for somewhere to go for food, drinks and entertainment, the the Moseley Bar at Glenelg will be opening on Tuesday April 24. There will be a DJ upstairs between 6:00pm – 2:00am.

More ANZAC Day Events

Union Hotel’s ANZAC Day Street Party It’s back again this year and Waymouth Street will once again close for this yearly ritual. Having long been a gathering place following the ANZAC Day Parade, The Union Hotel will host a street party with part proceeds from the day to benefit Legacy. Get stuck into a sausage from the sausage sizzle and enjoy boutique wine and beer tents and other food stalls. There will be plenty of entertainment with Cornsey’s Allstars, Salt & Pepper Swing Band, SA Pipes & Drums and Mount Barker Pipes & Drums. From 10am until late.

ANZAC Day at The Moseley If you are looking for a place to stop off for breakfast after the Dawn Service at Glenelg, the Moseley will be opening at 7:00am following the service.

ANZAC Day Dawn Service Accommodation at Stamford Plaza Adelaide and Stamford Grand Just like last year, The Stamford Plaza Adelaide and Stamford Grand are offering a special for accommodation to make it easier for you to attend the dawn service in the city or Glenelg. There’s free parking on site, late check out and free WIFI! The Horizons Cocktail Lounge, The Grand Bar and Promenade Restaurant will also be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and of course, drinks.

Arkaba ANZAC Day Breakfast The Arkaba Hotel will be holding an ANZAC Day breakfast this year between 7:00am-11:00am. They will be staying open to the public until 6:00pm.

ANZAC Day Buffet Breakfast at InterContinental Adelaide Head to the InterCon for their delicious buffet breakfast after the official ceremonies on North Terrace.

 

 

ANZAC Day Breakfast at Lindes Lane will be open from 6.30am on Tuesday for Anzac Day breakfast. They’ll have a fully a cooked breakfast, a continental breakfast with bircher muesli, seasonal fruits, a croissant and jam, maple and bacon waffles and good old favourite egg and bacon brioche just to name a few menu offerings. The coffee machine will be ready, stocked with Five Senses coffee and he bar will be open for those who want something a thing stronger, serving our full range of beer, wine and spirits, and also some breakfast cocktails. ANZAC DAY at The Gardens Cafe, Kiosk & Events will be open from 9am with fresh coffee, pastries, gourmet wraps and sandwiches, hot meals and other delicious treats for the whole family. You can also relax with a wine or beer and take in the beautiful surrounds of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.
