This week rumours have been rife about the opening of an Apple store in Adelaide. A report on the website Gizmodo refers to a number of job ads for Apple in Adelaide, which talk about start dates in September 2013. Although the ads don't specifically refer to Adelaide, they do show up when the location filter is applied, leaving speculators with enough fodder to get excited.
Another article from the Herald Sun, refers to the possible location being in the new Rundle Place development which opens in March 2013.
Rundle Place is a $385 million redevelopment of the old Harris Scarfe site currently under construction. It is located in Adelaide’s iconic retail precinct, Rundle Mall and extending the depth of the city block through to the retail/office based Grenfell Street. Upon completion it will offer tenants and visitors alike, a premium shopping experience with bright spaces and open light voids.
Rundle Place will include a four storey retail centre, anchored by Coles and a food court on the lower level; Harris Scarfe department store on part of Level 1 and all of Level 2 and approximately 70 specialty retail tenancies, with the fashion offering to be provided on ground level. Certainly enough space for an Apple store…
The development also includes an eleven storey commercial tower (set to open October 2013) which is preleased to the Adelaide/Bendigo Bank. The purchase of the adjoining car park by the developers provides 500 casual car parking spaces and 100 pre-leased car spaces that will directly link to each level of the retail centre.
“The centre is now 95% leased and interest continues to be strong. Over the coming weeks we will be able to release more exciting international names who have decided to make Rundle Place their home”, said Ilona Rose, Project Leasing Manager for Rundle Place.
We for one, will be waiting with baited breath to see which 'exciting international names' are announced.
Perhaps the wait is finally over!
