After hailstorms destroyed Adelaide Hill produce early this year, it has been a tough time for our local growers: produce was left marked and “ugly”, which large retailers refused to touch. In response to this The Hailstorm Heroes Campaign launched, but us gin lovers are rejoicing because some new heroes have entered the scene.
That’s right Adelaideans, Applewood Distillery and Inglewood Inn have joint forces to bring us beautiful pear gin, created from the damaged “ugly” pears after the hailstorms. Inglewood – the pear district of SA – and Applewood Distillery want to create awareness and spread their message that it doesn’t matter how it looks … what matters is how it tastes! 🍐🍐🍐
If you think this wonderful conjunction couldn’t get better, it has! Inglewood Inn and Applewood Distillery will be launching the pear gin on no other day but World Gin Day the 9th of June! Looks like the gin that is giving back to our farmers is giving to us consumers too, can this delightful duo be any more (pear)fect?
The crew from Applewood will be taking over the beer deck so come meet the makers and try a cocktail or two (or several, who’s judging?!)!
