Introducing the Coopers Alehouse Shannon’s Super Sanger – it’s a mega sandwich made to eat with two hands.

Shannon’s Super Sanger is a 16″ Turkish Sandwich loaded with crispy buffalo chicken, bacon, tomato, slaw, Swiss cheese and sriracha aioli. The chicken weighs out at just under 800g cooked, and the meal is served with a ½ kg side of chips.

You can take on the sandwich for $45 at Coopers Alehouse Gepps Cross, with prizes for the winner including a Coopers alehouse branded pint glass.

Shannon’s Super Sanger is the venue’s November food challenge and it’s only available until the end of the month – so if you’re keen to take it on, do so quickly!

Venue manager Matt Hanlan said while the food challenge has been very popular, a single person is yet to finish the meal.

“Up until Thursday we had around 20 to 30 people order the meal in the first couple of days,” he said.

“We then ran out of ingredients over the weekend it was crazy!”

As people have flocked to the venue to give it a go, Matt recommends booking beforehand to make sure you don’t miss out. The monthly food challenges was a trend that the Coopers Alehouse Gepps Cross used to have every month before COVID hit.

“We’ve actually historically done these kinds of things before,” he said.

“We brought it back last month for October and we’ll be doing it every month going forward.”

The October food challenge was the Big Red’s Tomahawk Steak. It was a massive 1.2kg chargrilled Tomahawk Steak with vegetables and 500g of chips on the side.
