Anchors aweigh, get chock-a-block and get yours eyes hand over fist to the horizon because the best pirate festival is approaching next month. Bottomless chowder, pirate platters and dancing to a live performance by the robust The Pirates of Penzance. The Pirates of Port Adelaide Festival is a call card for families, communities, party lovers, Johnny Depp fans, scoundrels, brigands, scallywags, buccaneers and even a few looters.
The Port Adelaide Flour Shed is going to become a hub for Pirates in the festival weekend, decked out to fit the theme, you’ll also get a preview of the program which includes an intro to the teams clashing in the inaugural Pirate Games! All proceeds from the bets on the Games’ winner will also be going to local charities, sporting clubs or service groups.
There’s a prize for the best dressed pirate, but if you’re not in costume, expect to be trapped in Davy Jones’ locker for the next decade.
The festival will be starting on the 14th of September at the Flour Shed with the Work like a Captain, Party like a Pirate party and the continuing the next day for the Pirates on Deck clash of teams that’ll be vying for the win in the Pirate Games on-water action. You’ll be joining the Captain of the esteemed One and All for grub on deck (which is a freshly prepared spread of food, tea, coffee and cool drinks). You gotta book though so hit up their Facebook page here for more info.
