The Batmobile is hitting the streets of Adelaide, with DC and Warner Bros. Discovery Australia partnering with Uber to offer fans free trips in Batman’s iconic Batmobile for two days only. The reason? They are celebrating the iconic superhero’s 85th anniversary.
Batman Day, celebrated globally on the third Saturday of September, honours the DC’s brooding hero and his rich legacy in comics, TV shows, movies, and more. This year marks 85 years since Batman first graced the comic book pages, and what better way to celebrate than with a ride in his legendary Batmobile?
On Friday, 27 September, and Saturday, 28 September, fans in Adelaide will have the chance to jump into the Batmobile and cruise through the city’s most famous landmarks.
Imagine rolling along Henley Beach or taking in the scenic Adelaide Hills, all while riding in one of the most iconic vehicles in pop culture history!
From 11am to to 3pm both days, the Batmobile will be available for free, on-demand trips around Adelaide via the Uber app.
To catch a ride, simply be within a 5km radius of the Adelaide CBD and keep your eyes peeled for the Batmobile option in the app. If the Batmobile isn’t available when you check the app, just keep trying and you might be able to snag a ride with the Dark Knight himself!
Remember, you’ve got to act fast! Trips are on a first-come, first-served basis and there’s only one passenger seat per ride.
Not only will you get to experience the thrill of riding in the Batmobile, but you might also score some exclusive Batman merchandise from Gotham Collectables.
Sasha Mackie, Senior Director of Marketing at Warner Bros. Discovery Australia, said, “There is no Super Hero more iconic than the Caped Crusader, and no ride more iconic than the Batmobile, so we are excited to be giving Aussies the opportunity to experience the Batmobile for the first time. Batman Day is a day where all fans are invited to celebrate all things the Dark Knight, so whether you love the movies or find your passion in the catalogue of comics, animated series and games, a trip in the Batmobile is something all fans can enjoy.”
Emma Foley, Managing Director of Uber Australia and New Zealand said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. Discovery Australia to help Aussies celebrate Batman Day in style by offering fans in Sydney and Adelaide the truly unique experience of taking a ride in Batman’s iconic Batmobile. For two days only, the trips will be available on demand and for free on the Uber app, so fans can experience the ultimate thrill of riding shotgun in the Batmobile.”
If you can’t grab a Batmobile ride, you can also celebrate the dark night at Batman in Concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on November 13th. Experience the epic 1989 Batman film with the Southern Cross Symphony led by conductor, Sarah-Grace Williams, performing Danny Elfman’s unforgettable score.
You can also pick up your own Batman toys and merch. The latest Batman consumer products are taking over retailers including BIG W, Australia Post and ZING Pop Culture. A highlight is the epic Batman 1:15th Tumbler Remote Control Batmobile, which will keep fans entertained for hours.
Don’t miss this chance to celebrate Batman Day in style and live out your superhero dreams with a ride in the Batmobile. Get ready, Adelaide, Batman is coming to town!
