Ceramic artist Klaus Gutowski, a recent graduate from TAFE SA Adelaide College of the Arts is one of two Australian ceramists to be selected for an international ceramic exhibition in Alcora, Spain. Klaus’ piece ‘Always on my mind’ was selected as a finalist from over 250 entries from around the world and will be exhibited at the ‘30 Concurs Internacional de Ceramica l’Alcora 2010’ from July until October.
Since graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design, the former interior decorator and restaurateur is receiving high praise for his skills and ability to use ceramics.
Describing his very own work Klaus commented, “My creations are often inspired by 18th and 19th century European ceramics. The reinvention of French wigs and hairpieces in my work are a symbol for an excessive culture which enjoys frivolity and carelessness.”
With an invitation to exhibit at Peter Walker Gallery in October Klaus is definitely an emerging Adelaide artist to watch!
