Artistic Director announced for 2025 Adelaide Cabaret Festival

Virginia Gay has been announced as Artistic Director for the 2025 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, continuing her leadership after a successful year in 2024.

The Adelaide Festival Centre has revealed the 2025 Adelaide Cabaret Festival will see the return of skilled Australian director, stage, and screen star, Virginia Gay as Artistic Director, having led a successful programme that captivated audiences in 2024.

“We are thrilled to welcome back the wonderful Virginia Gay as Artistic Projector of the 25th Adelaide Cabaret Festival next year,” Douglas Gautier AM, CEO & Artistic Director of Adelaide Festival Centre said.

“No doubt next year’s program will be a huge celebration of cabaret and shine just as brightly as this year with Virginia’s artistic vision.”

“My beautiful friends, I am absurdly honoured to be returning as Artistic Director of Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2025,” said Virginia Gay.

The current 2024 Adelaide Cabaret Festival still has its final performances running up until June 22nd. Acts including Broadway legend Patti LuPone and Australian icon iOTA, are set to grace the stage, along with a variety of other powerhouse artists bringing world-class cabaret performances to Adelaide’s winter evenings.

Patti LuPone’s show, ‘A LIFE IN NOTES,’ part of her national tour, kicks off on June 19th at the festival. Known for her electrifying performances, LuPone will offer audiences a mix of classic hits from ‘Evita’ and ‘Les Misérables.’ On June 21st and 22nd, Christina Bianco, described as ‘the woman of a thousand voices,’ will debut ‘In Divine Company’ in Australia, showcasing her incredible singing talents and charisma on stage.

Another highlight includes Emma Donovan’s performance ‘Til My Song is Done’ on June 20th at Dunstan Playhouse. Donovan, a respected Noongar and Gumbaynggirr artist, will perform as part of her album launch, sharing personal stories of Country and community.

The festival’s closing night on June 22nd features the ‘Bent Burlesque’ show with Imogen Kelly, World Queen of Burlesque. The performance will blend eccentric entertainment including performances from Yana Alana and Ruby Slippers, amongst others.

With Virginia Gay announced as the Artistic Director for the 2025 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, the festival is set to continue its tradition of innovation and excellence in the world of cabaret.
