We’re now approaching summer in sunny South Australia, and as the temperature increases, so does the frequency and quantity of animal rescues. Finding an injured animal on the road can be a scary experience, and often, we don’t always know the right number to call to make sure these animals receive the care and attention they need.
Calling the closest and best equipped rescue group for a particular species can be a matter of life and death for that animal. So, to ensure the best possible outcome for our uniquely wonderful wildlife, the Southern Koala & Echidna Rescue (SKER) organisation have compiled a list of South Australian wildlife contacts. So if you find a lost or injured animal, whether it be in the outback, on the highway, or in your own backyard, you’ll know who to call.
The full list of animal rescue contacts, corresponding to different regions or animals, is as follows:

SKER’s mission is to ensure that South Australia’s native species continue to enjoy a comfortable life in the wild. They achieve this goal by providing specialised advice and advocacy about the rehabilitation of koalas and echidnas, as well as rescue and rehabilitation services for rescued animals. The organisation protects these wildlife populations by revegetating their habitats and working alongside researchers to provide insightful data.
Their vision is to be acknowledged as one of South Australia’s leading wildlife welfare facilities, contributing to a sustainable future for Australian wildlife in our state.
