Asian Street Food Bazaar hits Adelaide this weekend with a lineup of food vendors and live music

This weekend, Franklin Street will come alive with an open-air Asian Street Food Bazaar, bringing the flavours, sounds, and energy of Asia to Adelaide’s CBD.

This weekend, Franklin Street will come alive with an open-air Asian street food market, bringing the flavours, sounds, and energy of Asia to Adelaide’s CBD. Running from Friday to Sunday, 5:30pm until late, the Asian Street Food Bazaar will be serving up a mix of dishes from across the continent, with a line-up of vendors, and there will be live entertainment and a DJ too.

The venue for this event is a vacant warehouse on Franklin Street, originally set for demolition next year. The property owner decided to give the space one last hurrah, turning it into an open-air nighttime bazaar inspired by the lively markets found across Asia, and in bigger Australian cities like Sydney and Melbourne.

“Instead of a big festival where you line up and walk around with your food, it’s more about sitting down around tables with friends, enjoying great food and drinks together,” Belle, Owner of Kaya Desserts (who will feature at the market), says.

Event organisers draw inspiration from Asian market culture.

The Asia Streetfood Bazaar will feature a range of food stalls from across Asia, each offering something unique. The Indonesian community will be bringing their famous dishes, while a barbecue stall will serve up giant squid and Chinese skewers. There’ll be Taiwanese street food, and a new Japanese vendor making their first-ever pop-up appearance at the event. Fans of Thai cuisine will find a dedicated stall, as well as two dessert stalls.

Some standout food vendors include 118 Kovenant from Pooraka, known for their delicious Filipino dishes, and Kaya Desserts, a CBD favourite that will be serving up their signature sweet treats.

Every night over the weekend, the Asian Street Food Bazaar will feature live performances to keep the vibes high. There will be traditional Chinese and Thai live bands, as well as a K-pop crew. A DJ will also be spinning tunes to keep the crowd dancing throughout the evening.

The event is organised by a group of Chinese and Malaysian locals who wanted to bring the authentic experience of traditional Asian bazaars to Adelaide. And judging by the line-up of food, entertainment, and community spirit, they’ve succeeded in creating something special.

To make the weekend even better, the Asian Street Food Bazaar is hosting an exciting giveaway with prizes up for grabs. The first prize is a $100 voucher to use at the bazaar, the second prize is a $50 voucher, and there will be 20 drinks vouchers awarded to 20 lucky winners.
