Relive the hits of The Beatles with the ASO

“Audiences stood and bellowed for more.” LA Times

Travel back in time to an era when four lads from Liverpool ruled the musical world! This May, the original members of the Broadway sensation ‘Beatlemania’, perform Beatles’ classic hits as they were originally written – with the power of the ASO.

Find out why the band’s concerts have been a sell out success across the US when the boys perform live in concert with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on Monday, 24 May, 8pm and Tuesday, 25 May, 8pm at the Festival Theatre.

The four musicians in ASO Plays The Beatles look and sound just like The Beatles, but the performances are more than just a rock concert. The shows present some 20 Beatles tunes sung, played, and performed exactly as they were written. Hear ‘Penny Lane’ with a live trumpet section; experience the beauty of ‘Yesterday’ with an acoustic guitar and string quartet; enjoy the rock/classical blend on the hard edged ‘I Am the Walrus’. From early Beatles music through to the solo years,

ASO Plays The Beatles is the best of The Beatles, totally live. The concert features Jim Owen (John Lennon) on rhythm guitar, piano, and vocals; Tony Kishman (Paul McCartney) on bass guitar, piano, and vocals; John Brosnan (George Harrison) on lead guitar and vocals; and Chris Camilleri (Ringo Starr) on drums and vocals.

“We really make an effort to sound exactly like the originals”, explains Owen. “The orchestra score is exact, right down to every note and instrument that was on the original recording. On ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’, we have two tenor saxes and three trumpets. That’s what it was written for, and that’s what we use. “Now, 45 years after The Beatles’ only tour to Australia, the demand for Beatles material is greater than ever. Many fans never had the opportunity to experience a live Beatles show; ASO Plays The Beatles offers that experience.

“We have some real showstopping numbers,” says Owen. “I wish I could actually be in the audience to see and hear this show. The power of the emotional and nostalgic connection back to each of our individual experiences with The Beatles is hard to put into words.”
