This enchanting event, filled with the spirit of Christmas, will feature an array of Christmas favourites, beloved classics, and carols.

Adelaide’s festive season is set to begin on a high note as the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) presents ‘Christmas Unwrapped’ at the Festival Theatre. This enchanting event, filled with the spirit of Christmas, will feature an array of Christmas favourites, beloved classics, and carols.

Under the baton of renowned conductor Guy Noble, the ASO will join forces with soprano Desiree Frahn, Graduate Singers, and the Elder Conservatorium Chorale to create a magical festive atmosphere. Noble expressed his excitement about returning to Adelaide for this cherished annual event, highlighting the rich selection of music and the interactive nature of the concert.

“We have so much wonderful music in our Christmas stocking, and the best part is our audience gets to sing along too,” he said.

Emma Gregan, Tutti Horn player for the ASO, echoed Noble’s sentiments, anticipating a night filled with beloved Christmas music.

“Christmas Unwrapped will be a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a night of much- loved Christmas music together. I’m really looking forward to having conductor Guy Noble back in town to lead us through some sing-along carols alongside our favourite Christmas- themed symphonic works to wrap up 2023 in style.”

The concert program includes a variety of pieces that capture the essence of the holiday season. Audiences can expect to hear Malcom Arnold’s whimsical ‘The Holly and the Ivy (Fantasy on Christmas Carols)’, Sergei Prokofiev’s ‘Lieutenant Kijé: Troika’ that brings to life a snowy winter sleigh ride, Howard Blake’s enchanting ‘The Snowman’, and Leroy Anderson’s delightful ‘Sleigh Ride’, complete with the sound of jingling bells.

Additionally, the concert will feature an interactive rendition of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ for audience participation.
