Aussie Supercars driver heads to 2025 Adelaide Motorsport Festival behind the wheel of Le Mans and F1 cars

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is gearing up for an exhilarating weekend in March 2025, with an exciting addition to the lineup drumming up even more anticipation for motorsport fans.

The Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival is set to return to Adelaide’s roads next March, bringing with it a revolving door of excitement for motorsport fans. Scheduled for March 8 and 9, the festival will feature a thrilling selection of non-stop activity and on-track buzz, as a swarm of Formula 1 cars, V8 supercars, touring cars and motorbikes come down south to show us what they’re made of.

To drum up even more excitement, the festival has announced an addition to the lineup that is sure to delight fans of Australian motorsport. Former Supercars winner Tim Slade will return to the cockpit to once again show off his skills by piloting not one, but two epic cars.

Slade, who announced his retirement from full-time Supercars competition back in September, will begin his festival action behind the wheel of the historical Leyton House Porsche 962C. Renowned for its appearances during the 1980s at Le Mans, a 24-hour endurance race held annually in France, the iconic vehicle has an estimated value of $1 million to $1.25 million and is engineered to deliver a whopping 750 horsepower.

Then, Slade will take control of an Arrows A10B Formula 1 car for another trip around the tracks. The A10B garnered fame during a run at the 1988 Formula 1 season when it was piloted by the incredibly popular American driver Eddie Cheever.

Powered by a BMW turbocharged engine later given the fitting title of “Megatron”, the legendary vehicle will mostly be driven by Craig Lowndes, Australia’s most celebrated motorsport driver, for the majority of the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. Slade will then slide into the cockpit for one, awe-inspiring session.

With Slade driving a range of historically significant cars – with more to be announced – his return to the road gives motorsport fans yet another reason to head down to the tracks at Victoria Park in March. Beyond the on-track activity, fans can expect a variety of car displays, bars and food trucks, exhibitors, traders, and a kid’s zone, all organised in a family-friendly, picnic-in-the-park atmosphere.

Tickets for the Adelaide Motorsport Festival are now on sale, with options for either single-day passes of full weekend access. If motorsport is your jam, it’s a can’t miss event.
