Australian Dance Theatre is searching for aspiring professional male and female dancers to join its new Youth Ensemble, announced today.
The coveted positions will give young dancers unrivaled access to a get a “foot in the door,” receive sought-after performance experience and be trained by some of the best in the business.
Julianne Pierce, Executive Director of the Australian Dance Theatre said that in the lead up to the 50th year anniversary celebrations in 2015, the company will not only reflect on the past, but look to the future by fostering young talent, and this exciting new program will go some way in supporting that vision. “We are seeking talented students who have a passion for dance. They will be pivotal in shaping the future of this program and its success,” she said.
To audition, dancers must: be aged between 14-18 years old; perform at an intermediate/advanced level in contemporary dance; be athletic, resilient, quick thinking, and passionate about dance & movement research, although not mandatory an intermediate or advanced level in classical ballet is preferable. Successful applicants will be required to participate in the Australian Dance Theatre School – Classes for Young Dancers – to receive the required training to perform on behalf of the company.
