A new report has discovered that Australia’s obsession with home renovating extends past popular TV shows like The Block and House Rules, with more than 1 in 10 people renovating or decorating their homes monthly.
The study conducted by home renovation and design platform Houzz.com.au also found that in the next two years, 75% of Aussies plan on decorating their homes and 38% plan a major renovation.
The study also looked into Aussie’s colour preferences, eco-friendly choices made by home-owners, and the different styles displayed from state to sate.
Adelaidians are the national leader in traditional, retro, vintage, and eclectic styles and are the most likely to have eco outdoor features like rainwater tanks, composting and solar panels.
Managing Director of Houzz Australia Jason Chuck said the report shows that Australians are keen home design enthusiasts.
“By taking a look inside Aussie homes and providing insights back to our community of homeowners, design enthusiasts and trade professionals,” Mr Chuck said.
“We hope to make the home renovation and design process more fun and productive for everyone.”
