Australian String Quartet to take residency at Lot Fourteen

The University of Adelaide’s Quartet-in-Residence, Australian String Quartet, will throw open its doors at Lot Fourteen as it takes up a mini-residency next week.

The University of Adelaide’s Quartet-in-Residence, Australian String Quartet, will throw open its doors at Lot Fourteen as it takes up a mini-residency next week.

The exclusive performances on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20 will include open rehearsals where any member of the precinct can watch as the Quartet prepares new work for upcoming concerts and recordings.

As an exclusive iteration of the ensemble’s popular ASQ Close Quarters concert series, the residency provides an opportunity to explore the parallels between artistic and cultural activity and entrepreneurial enterprise.

The ASQ’s Stephen King believes the residency will allow the group to perform amongst some of Adelaide’s most creative minds.

“Sharing an experience in a space with creative people is central to what we do as artists,” Stephen says in a press release.

“Lot Fourteen is home to some of our state’s most creative innovators and entrepreneurs and this residency adds to the inspiring conversations and collaborations.”

The project is a continuation of the ASQ’s existing relationship with virtual reality company Jumpgate VR, a resident company of Lot Fourteen.

The ASQ’s Chief Executive, Angelina Zucco, says she is foccussed on exploring synergies between the creative industries.

“As Australia’s national string quartet, our vision to be a thriving, future-focused organisation is made possible through great partnerships. Our collaboration with resident companies like Jumpgate VR and Artisan Post Group make way for bold ideas and new ventures to take flight,” Angelina says in a press release.

“Creative industries is one of the focus sectors at our precinct which is home to Artisan Post Group, virtual reality specialist Jumpgate VR, infrastructure visualisation company Convergen and film producers Dancing Road Productions.

“Welcoming the ASQ for such a unique event is a perfect fit with our vision for this precinct and highlights the many opportunities to collaborate, engage and share spaces.

“I look forward to hearing the beautiful sound of live string music floating through Lot Fourteen next week.”
